It was a joke. You made it sound unattainable and it kind of seems like it is unless you physically go to Napa.

Sorry, I missed your joke. I didn't say it was unattainable. They probably only make 5,000 - 7,500 cases of each of their wines. You can't order it online, but you might find one of their wines at Total Wine every once in a while. You might also find some of their Cabs in a high-end steak restaurant, but will be pretty pricy. Wasn't trying to sound elitist or a social snob.

Peter Michael Wines

It has been a while since I checked this thread and didn’t realize my mention of Peter Michael wines was still being discussed.

I get together with a group of friends for dinner every month or so and good wines are a top priority. One of our group was gifted a couple of bottles of Peter Michael and he was nice enough to share it with us.

It is very difficult to get. You have to be on an exclusive approved list just to have the privilege of ordering it from the winery. It is good to have friends in high places.

Speaking of the Amarone, if you like that you may want toto try Milamore. It is the Argentinian version of Amarone. The dried grapes produce a bold, intense flavor. Martin Wine Cellar sells it for $25 which is about half the price of the real stuff.

On the secondary market, you can find Peter Michael, mostly back vintages sometimes more current vintages. Keep an eye out on inventory at www.benchmarkwine.com, Peter Michael appears and disappears quickly.

I have 21 bottles of Peter Michael (reds and white) in my EuroCave right now. Great wine. I normally buy 12 bottles during each allocation (every 6 months). Their Chardonnays are off the chart, but so are their blends.

It’s Thursday, the unofficial beginning of the weekend.

What y’all drinking? I’m going to enjoy the Chat Fou I purchased. I was recommended to give it a chill before drinking. Anyone else do that? Also, it sounds like there’s not much available anywhere until the new vintage drops.

Yep. Especially during summer.

Thinking about opening a 22 year old Chianti Classico Riserva this weekend.

Looks good to me.

Did you bring this home from a trip to Gaiole?

When I was there I brought home some top notch wines from Ricasoli, some of which I still have.

I ordered from I Sodi last March. We're visiting the vineyard in September and I will order more then.

I have quite a bit of Ricasoli. You can order from their site and it ships in the US.

I'll be hosting Thanksgiving. I am pretty well stocked on wine from recent Last Bottle impulse purchases and a recent wine tasting event where I ordered some bottles. But I'll be picking up some Zins and Gruners, just because that is what I like to drink at Thanksgiving.

I use Last Bottle from time to time too. Never during the summer due to heat and shipping cross country.

I’ll host Thanksgiving too. I’m going to be scouting “special bottles” over the next month and a half.

Opening a 2019 Caymus that I was gifted 2 years ago. Say what you will about Caymus but I enjoy it.

Caymus is the wine you love to hate. But it’s fantastic. I love Cali fruit bomb cabs. Austin Hope, Artemis, Buena Vista, Caymus (or 1851 from TW) are my main go to wines. Drink Prisoner a lot as well. I can generally get Austin Hope and Prisoner from my wine club for under $35 bottle, throw an aerator stopper after I uncork, and enjoy.

Drink what you like.

Caymus is not a bad wine at all, it's just that you can get better wines at that price point (and under).

I never buy it myself, but I tend to get a few bottles from people for Christmas. I always enjoy them.

My current favorite daily wine is Legacy from Beau Vigne. It is almost identical to their higher dollar Romeo and Juliet, but can be had for $40.
