In that case, do yourself a favor and switch to Bogle for everyday drinking. $8-$10/bottle and they win awards for their wine yearly.

Half the bottles of wine I buy in the $20-$30 range don’t come close to Bogle.

Same. Something Chilean, Argentinian, or Spanish and I'm good to go. Usually a good variety of the three at Costco too.

For the wine lovers, there's a show on apple tv called "drops of god". Very good show which centers around sommeliers and really makes me want to drink wine

Came to say the same thing.
The petite Serah is my favorite. It’s around $13.
But I’ve enjoyed all of their offerings.

Petit Sirah
Essential Red Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon

Can’t go wrong with any of these from Bogle.

I like this Zinfandel in that category - usually around $11-13

Love me a good Aussie Shiraz.
Love a good Pinot. Hell, I love an average Pinot.

Current collection at about 300 bottles. Not getting any smaller.

I don’t drink nearly as much as I wish I did.

Why?
I’m only asking because not all wine is “cellarable”.

Is there a thread like the whiskey thread that is a ton of pages? I did a search but didn't see one but figured there would be.

I have about 400 bottles and growing. Pretty much everything I buy is wine that gets better with age. My focus is mostly on Italian wines and the three B’s in particular. I also have a couple of racks of daily drinkers. The collection is for special occasions and family get togethers. Good wine is meant to be shared with others.

The daily drinkers are for when a buddy pops over or when I just feel like having a glass or two.

This makes sense. He said he likes Pinots and Shiraz.
Do those get better with age?
How do you know which ones do?

Pinot definitely is a wine that gets better with age. It may depend on the producer but French Pinots (Burgundy) certainly age well. With Shiraz it depends but there definitely are Shiraz that can age.

Collecting age worthy wines

Red Wine Aging Chart

Best Wines to Age in your Collection

Some info on wines to age. There are always exceptions as even the best producers typically make a wine that is at a lower price point but is made to drink upon release. For instance, Sassicaia. Their Super Tuscan ages for a long time and also costs a ton. I have a bottle of 2010 I paid $235 for at release that now sells for about $500 a bottle. I wish I'd gotten a case.

Sassicaia has a little brother named Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto that goes for $50-$60 a bottle and it is a fantastic drinking wine. Ornellaia has a little brother named Le Volte that goes for around $30 a bottle and also is very very good. If you want to drink from one of these producers that make high end wine you can almost always find something they make at a lessor price that is a good value and a great drinking wine.

I dont collect wine, never been interested in that..

Current favorite.. Vivanterre Gamay
