Agree with everything recommended, but (unfortunately) Cafe Des Amis has closed.
Also recommend St. John Restaurant in St. Martinville and Bon Temps Grill in Lafayette.
Tour Jungle Gardens or Lake Martin if the weather is nice

I have heard really good things about St. John. I may hit that up Thursday night.

And to fully close the loop, St. John is opening a sister restaurant -- Cafe Sydnie Mae -- in the old Cafe Des Amis building.

Lafayette:
Poor Boys Riverside Inn
Cafe Vermillionville
Saint Street Inn
Pamplona's
Judice Inn (best hamburger in town)
If you are strolling through Breaux Bridge, Buck & Johnny's have consistent food and a great Zydeco brunch on Saturday mornings.

I heard it was going to re-open. I forgot the story on the closing but I heard it was temporary.
In that same "general" area, is a place called The Little Big Cup. Check it out.
