Ralph’s quarterly smoked Boston butt sale

I say quarterly because they do it every 3-4 months.
$10 for a 1/2 smoked Boston butt. I bought four last time and they were under done. I had to sous vide them for another 3-4 hours. My friend is a manager there and I show him how they were under done (not under cooked, but just didn’t reach 200 deg or so. They were bricks, wouldn’t shred.
The ones today were perfect. They shredded easily. I bought three and it rendered 7.5 lbs, comes out to $4.25 a pound with tax. That’s not much more than it cost me to make it.
(Photo is after they were in the fridge before I could shred them)

And let someone else have all the fun of smoking it? I don't think so.

I don’t find smoking butt “fun”, like I do with other stuff (brisket, wings, etc).
I always keep 10+ lbs of smoked pulled pork on hand, for various different recipes.
