Oh I know it. Though I'm not trying to compete in BB or physique, just trying to look better and be healthier.

I started my diet journey back on June 9, 2014. The 4 days over Mardi Gras were the first time I'd gone 2 days in a row with >50g carbs since June 2014. A combination of mental weakness and diet fatigue, but I'm plugged back in now. #gainz

So, a cheat day and a carb day are not the same, I'm gathering

For me, they are the same
I only eat carbs (directly) for my cheat meal on Friday nights
I intake a few indirect carbs daily, mostly through my fat intake (cashews, almonds)

What are some good carb meals that allow you to recover and then get back into a ketogenic state quickly?

I go all out for my cheat meals
I had king cake for my first one (all I could eat)
I had Mexican my second one
I ate pizza and chips last Friday

My body recovers quick and I'm usually back in ketosis by Monday

That's how I look at it. Most of us ain't training to compete with other men in an underwear posing contest.

I say if you have a tasty carbs meal every once in a while no biggie....just don't let it become a habit.

Personally after a week in I'm not really tempted to cheat on the food aspect at all. I feel so much better. My battle will be limiting beer consumption on the weekends to 2-3. I have a jug of titos and if I want a drink I'll hit that with a splash of soda water.

Yeah. That's about how long it feels like it takes me.

pizza and chips

The only two things I would consider cheating with.

How is that possible? I'm just learning this stuff but I thought it took 2-3 weeks to really achieve ketosis

I think I'm just back into a state where I've got all the toxic sugar out of my stupid brain by that time.

I don't feel irritable or fat and stupid after 48 hrs of eating clean again.

I'm not sure about the sciencey part.

Ok. I need to look it up. I am amazed at what taking sugar out if my life has done. And I never ate a lot of sweets.

How Long Does It Take To Get Into Ketosis?
A ketogenic diet is not a diet that you can whimfully choose to go on and off of at any point. It takes time for your body to adjust and go into a state known as ketosis. This process? Anywhere from 2 – 7 days, depending on your body type, activity levels, and what you’re eating. The fastest way to get into ketosis is to exercise on an empty stomach, restrict your carbohydrate intake to 20g or less per day, and be vigilant with your water intake.

Hmmm.

Yeah.
I do it twice a week.
But I'm also hitting the gym early. I think that makes it easier.

you can enter ketosis in a couple of days. But it takes weeks to "fat adapted" or "keto adapted"

as someone who has had a rough couple of months sticking to my keto diet consistently...I'm going to go with not really. Assuming it's just a simple carb binge and you're not eating carbs regularly.

It still takes a couple of days to get to feeling right, but I feel like that's because I'm actually fat adapted and my body is all "woah carbs, frick you buddy...I'm gonna slow you down a bit until you revert back to fat"

my version of falling off the wagon though means I ate a handful of candy for a day or two, or I ate chips while out at mexican...not I'm stuffing my face with pasta/bread/sugar every meal for a week straight. If it's just a simple frickup for the day, I'll probably be back in Keto the next day. If it's a few days of minor frick-ups (say 100-150 carbs for the day) that's when it will take me a couple of days to get back to feeling right, and getting un-bloated etc.

I don't think any of us are doing that.

We're talking one cheat meal, maybe two on the same day.

Right, my point of that spiel was basically to say that even with all of my frick-ups over the last couple of months, I still don't need to go through the process of getting "fat adapted" again. It's just a matter of getting my body back into ketosis.

I'm guessing it gets easier if you do fall off.

I'm to the point where I just wanna hit my target weight so I can cheat a little with some Zapps and a few IPA's and not feel guilty.

It's a B feeling like arse while you get readapted. Easier just to stay with the diet I think.

No cheat meal for a month+?? Fuccckkk man. I've been considering trying keto just for something different but idk if I could give up my weekly cheat meal. That's my lifeline
