If you have both, how do you determine which and when to use...I'm thinking I'll be using the pellet smoker less.

Use the one you enjoy the most. That's all I can say.

I don't have a pellet smoker, because I have a gravity charcoal smoker.

I miss the ease of getting a nice smoke flavor without bitterness that pellets are perfect at, but I like being able to put a lot more smoke flavor in the meat with the gravity, if that makes sense.

I have both, use the gravity 8/10 times. Much better flavor, that’s what it’s all about.

Really need that 800 to be back in stock without the $199 delivery fee.

Yikes. It was not that much when I ordered. Maybe $65-70?

The 800 has been great for me so far. Being able to throw the griddle on in the morning for breakfast has been great.

I may just get the larger one and an aftermarket griddle.

Have you seen anyone making any yet? It can't be that difficult to manufacture so I'm sure they are somewhere.

I did see someone with a mod for the fire chamber to deflect heat up for a griddle.

Camp Chef makes several sizes, but have not taken the time to compare what they have to the Masterbuilt grill size.

LSS makes the shroud for a 1050, I don’t know what they are using for a griddle though. Check the Facebook groups or ask Luke on Facebook. Both him and Nathan, other guy doing mods, answer dm’s quickly.

After about an hour, I drop in a smoke tube full of pellets.

I get plenty of smoke, that’s the problem, since I got the vent mod I can control it a bit better now though. Pellets are known for their light blue smoke with ease/zero work. With this gravity I can control the smoke far more than I can with the pellet. It’s a pro and a con, I can actually screw it up with too much and get that thick white smoke that can make the meat bitter, but if I don’t screw it up I can also get a lot more good smoke flavor in there that some miss in pellet smokers. Takes a bit more skill with this, but it’s worth it IMO.

Anyone able to find the Masterbuilts in store? I saw an 860 in Covington, but it was the display model and was in not so new condition. I really had no way to pack it at the time anyway.
