I have a rectec 590. I’ve had some minor trouble with auger jams(twice), but I also leave it out uncovered occasionally, so that is to be expected I guess. I follow a couple of RT pages on Facebook, and it seems like the quality of their grills has fallen off some since I bought mine a little over 3 years ago. In the $700-1000 range, I think it’s still a pretty good buy, but you also might have a minor problem or two.

2nd the 590 from Rectec. Had mine for 4 years and it has been dependable and just what I was looking for in a similar price range to yours.

Have heard some quality issues popping up since they took on some outside investments but their customer service still has a top notch reputation. If there is an issue they will get it fixed.

Most problems seem to be damages in shipping so be sure to inspect when receiving from the freight lines.

Anyone have experience with the Weber Smokefire? See some rough reviews with 1st gen but seem to have been corrected.

I've looked at some Camp Chef and Z-Grill,

Don’t get Z-grill. It looks like a clone of the “better” pellet grills but it’s shitty.

I had an older Traeger and it was good. The newer ones apparently have problems.

Don’t buy a Louisiana Grills either. They have huge issues with temp swings.

About 6 months ago I got the Masterbuilt gravity and it’s been fantastic. The taste is as close as it can get to my stick burner. It will definitely do all of 700 degrees for searing, but you do have to watch for flare ups at the higher temps.
