I thought this was pretty well known regarding pellet smokers. It’s one of the reasons I bought an egg several years back because it kept popping up on random messages boards when I researched.

All the food I’ve had from a pellet smoker has tasted fine, but you can’t really seat or get a lot of smoke. It’s not something I would ever recommend for someone actually trying to experiment or become skilled at the trade.
