I just can't take Pastime seriously with their frozen pizza dough. The roast beef is dry and their bread for poboys really doesn't cut it. Just like Fleur de Lis, in that everyone says it is great, but it ain't. I like drinking at the bar at times.

I went the the pastime jr and to me it was better than the one downtown. The staff at the new locatuon is some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. And pastime in general has the best pizza by far.

I went their with my family and it was great. The roast beef is just as good as the one downtown. And this place has more of a family feel to it than the other.

A friend of mind told me about some of these negative post. I know the pastime very well. They are the only rest. that is a historic landmark for the state of Louisiana. The guy that ran the downtown location is not at the jr I go by there a couple times a week. You can book it if he's there it will be right.

How so? Both of these places are not great. They are ok, but not great. Some restaurants last for years based on great traditions, but mediocre food. We go to them because we always have. When I moved here, I went to them because folks told me that these are the two great casual joints in Baton Rouge. Sorry, but there are MUCH better places ( a topic on another thread I am sure). You might as well order a Papa John's thin crust pizza rather. Their's is only slighty worse, and they'll bring it to you.
