I've never eaten at a Tapas Bar. How does it work and what's good?

It’s a tapas restaurant with a bar, not a tapas bar. I’ll spare you the distinction and say that it works exactly like every other restaurant you’ve been to. In my opinion, it’s the best restaurant in Lafayette, and most everything is good. But, order a morcilla quail egg for me.

It is one of my favorite places for a group dinner. Good atmosphere and unique options that you won’t see at many other restaurants.

Do you order an entree or small plates?

I prefer to get several of the small plates and share. Just keep ordering more and trying things as you go. Ask for recommendations from the waiter.

And I agree, one of the better restaurants in Lafayette.

Not directed at me, but I *never* order anything but small plates at Pamplona. I’ve had some of the larger options because the table ordered it to share (the paella is very good), but I would rather change the experience every few bites than invest in a large dish. Plus, it lets you be more adventurous. Order something you otherwise never would but sounds interesting. If you don’t like it, so what? You’re out a few bucks and move on to something else.

I guess it's not made for a party of 2?

I read somewhere else it's more catered towards larger parties.

Not true at all. Works perfectly fine for larger parties, but I’ve dined there with just one other person many times.

LINK

That’s a link to their menu (click dinner on the left). Small plates are at the top; traditional tapas near the bottom. Take a look at both and post what interests you. I imagine multiple posters will be able to tell you what they have and have not enjoyed.

Going tonight. Think we'll try the small plates.
