Paloma- A refreshing summer cocktail

1-2 oz tequila
1/2 lime juice- I prefer to use closer to a full lime for lots of juice
A couple shakes of salt (in the drink)
6-8 oz grapefruit soda ( we used diet, but it probably doesn't matter)
Little but of ice in the cup, then add ingredients in order. Stir and serve.
I had one of these for the first time yesterday and I'm pretty sure it will be in the rotation this summer.

I was about to head to the liquor store for tequila !!! Do you use silver or gold??? I have never seen or heard of grapefruit soda. Do most grocery stores carry this?

Just picked some up at Kroger (Big K brand)
You could probably use juice and soda water 1/2 each for roughly the same effect.
Eduardo (the guy that made the drinks yesterday) used silver. I'm going to try it with gold tonight. I'll let you know if it makes a difference.

I would think silver would be best . If you can find it try camarena tequila. Its inexpensive and a really good quality.

Maybe Fresca?

A California friend hipped me to this quick-mixer: Squirt. Closest I've seen it is at Houston Mexi-grocer Fiesta.

I've been sipping on a few. The diet grapefruit soda is nasty. I added a half shot of simple syrup and it's really good!

Palomas are fantastic.
You can probably find grapefruit soda at Whole Foods, I get mine at Central Market.
If you're ever in Houston, Hugo's makes 3-4 different versions of a paloma with different ingredients. Highly suggest them.

I'm sure you can use regular soda, and if you don't drink diet, I'm sure it would be pretty terrible. I made some with gold tequila this evening and it was good, but not near as good as with silver.
