Ladies and Gentlemen of the FDB. I'll be in OKC in 2 weeks visiting a friend. What are some good places to eat/drink?
I'm down with anything and everything. I'm also a fan of the finest of fine craft beer.

Thanks in advance

Go to Republic Gastropub. Great beer selection with excellent food options. I go to OKC once every quarter for business and it's a restaurant I would love to have in nola. Try the grilled salmon entree

Oklahoma has a ton of great local breweries, and they don't distribute outside of OK so be sure to google some and mule a few brews back. F5 IPA FTW!

Thanks man! I'll check it out.
My friend is a bartender at a new place that just opened, Oak & Ore. Looks interesting. I know they have a pretty big beer list too. I'll let you know about it for your next work visit.

Anyone else go to OKC? I know it's not a top destination but just like hearing the FDB insight.

Was there last spring. Had a work dinner at Vast on top of whatever the tallest building in OKC is. Food was decent but I would recommend going and having a drink to check out the view.

All I know is New Year's Eve going into 2009 we got cut off and kicked out hooters at maybe 8pm after 1 round of shots and about a half dozen pitchers of beer (between 6 of us) watching the LSU bowl game because we were "getting out of line in a family restaurant."

frick hooters and OKC.

last time I was in OKC I hit up WSKY. I highly recommend this place. Its a pretty neat cigar bar with a large and varied array of very good scotches and bourbons. After that I went to Mantle's Steakhouse. I wasnt very impressed but it was right across the street from their baseball stadium which made for a cool atmosphere.

I used to have business in OKC quite often and I've eaten at Mickey Mantle's a gazillion times because it was convenient to where we stayed and the folks with whom I usually ate liked the place. It's a typical steakhouse. I think it's good. I love the jalapeno mac and cheese. They do a grilled king crab that's good. They used to just grill them, but last time I had that, they made them sort of grilled scampi style. Still good though. It's across from the ballpark as mentioned, downtown as you get into Brick Town, I believe.

There's another place near there called The Mantle. Upscale as I recall.

I used to have to go there for work sometimes. I always stayed in Bricktown so I don't know much about anywhere outside of that area.

Beer-it pretty much sucks there. There are a handful of local breweries making mostly mediocre stuff. Prairie is good but its located in Tulsa. Tapworks was the best bet, decent selection but they didn't seem like they cleaned their lines very well or at all. I used to go to a liquor store near the YMCA that had a good selection. There is a place up near CHKs campus but I can't remember the name. It was some gastropub.

Food- Nic's grill has one of the greasiest meanest burgers anywhere. Its cash only and the size of my college apartment so don't go with more than one other person. Since finding this place I have made it a point to go there every time i am in OKC. I am also a big fan of Red Prime steak house. Its up there with any of the best I have eaten at. I've eaten there 3 times and seen Derek Fisher there each time. Mantle's is good and there is nothing wrong with it, I've enjoyed meals there also.

If you make it down to Norman there is a great italian place that is way too good to be in Norman. Again, the name escapes me. Don't have high expectations of OKC and you'll have fun.

Thanks everyone. Pretty positive I'll be staying in or very near Bricktown.

My friend works at a new place called Oak & Ore. She was hired to help with the craft selection and to bartend. I believe 30+ taps. Hopefully good stuff.
And thanks for the burger rec. I'll for sure check it out
