Anybody find any good deals for Restaurant Week?
Coming in town for the weekend and plan on going to a couple of places but haven't been to many upscale NOLA spots and need recommendations.
TIA

Hope to make it to Brown Butter or Shaya for lunch. Someone needs to tell some of these places that a side salad and a sandwich for a $20 lunch isn't a deal.

Was at Commanders today and there were at least 5 appetizers and 3 entrees for $18-20 depending on entree.
Apps included turtle soup, rabbit and andouille gumbo, commanders salad, hog jowl risotto, crab and corn bisque, and maybe another. Entrees were seared gulf fish (today was drum), Moroccan spiced chicken, or a 10oz pork over some beans/hog jowl/wilted spinach.
The pork was one of the better dishes I've had this year.

My experience is that Restaurant Week is not so much about a deal any more and is just about getting people in to try their stuff by insisting it is a deal. Only one or two places in Baton Rouge actually offer what I consider a deal. The rest just charge the same price and have a limited menu for you to chose from. What really bothers me is when they put special stuff on their Restaurant Week menu that isn't even on their usual menu. So you find something you really enjoy and then you go back and find out it isn't going to be on the menu again until the next Restaurant Week.

See I am the opposite, I like to see what restaurants have that isn't on their normal menu. Granted, there aren't too many places older than 6 months old in BR that I haven't been. I like to see the creativity and executions of the chefs. A lot of the places, this is one of only a few chances to express themselves (within limits of course).
Also, most every place does offer a deal compared to their normal prices.

I agree
I find you pay what you normally would any giving week/month of the year and you get a complimentary VERY SMALL desert portion.
