check on the closeouts on the original bubba kegs..a friend bought one not 2 weeks ago at home depot for $150. you can't beat that anywhere.
if not, i'd go w/ big steel keg. you get alot more bang for your buck.
about the only diff w/ the new keg is that they modified the venting to make it easier to keep the fire going at 200ish temps. so you're really not losing a whole lot to go with the older model..especially if it saves you $400.
niknik and i both have the keg (niknik has 2) and i love love love it. does an amazing job for less than 1/2 the price of the egg.
bonus: the tailgate hitch on the keg is huge; just slide it on and take it with you to a bbq. try that with an egg.

Thanks for the Info.
The portability of the Big Steel Keg is hard to beat.
Looks like I'll have a new toy just in time for Tailgating season.

come back here for advice. there's a couple threads on here talking about how to light the charcoal, etc. its a little tricky at first but after you do it a couple times its easy.

bought the keg at home depot a couple of weeks ago and love it. was on sale for $299. it is a little hard to dail in the temp, but once you get the hang of it you will like it.

If you are considering the BGE you need to take a look at the Purple and Gold Kamado Joe they sell at Tramonte's off of Airling. Same price or less than the egg. Better hardware and thicker ceramics
