Need a Bottle of Scotch for around $200

Some friends and I are buying a bottle of scotch for a former colleague of ours who is retiring. The guy actually buying the bottle lives in Tampa, if that makes a difference. We have decided to buy him a bottle of Scotch, and our budget is $200.
Looking for something that is just fantastic, or a little bit rare/unusual.

Taliskers 18 would be my vote.
Mac 18 is a good choice as well.

I love some Highland Park scotch, but the 18-year will likely be 30-40% below your price point and the 25-year will probably be a good bit higher.
Talisker is probably the same... 18-year coming in under and 25-year over.

I always had a bottle of this around when I lived in Texas and could just go to Spec's for it.

Amber colour. Nose; more assertive all round especially in peaty smokiness. Body; quite rich smooth slightly viscous. Palate; dry smoky with malty and fruity undertones. Finish; aromatic smooth. For lovers of the island malts this one is another great find! Complex with a tad less smoke.

Did a JW tasting on the cruise ship. I was surprised how good the higher end stuff was.

It also depends on the guy retiring.
If he truly likes whiskey and considers himself an educated whiskey drinker, then something like Oban or Lagavulin would be a good choice. However they are both very unusual flavors that the occasional whiskey drinker might not like.
If he is not a whiskey drinker at all but would be impressed with the "ooohhhh look Johnnie Walker Blue. That's the good stuff" then by all means go with that. However, most whiskey drinkers would not consider JW Blue to be in the league with many of the single malts. But whiskey is subjective. Personally, JW is not my favorite.
You would be hard pressed to find Mac 18 for under $200.
I have never tried Compass Box but I trust LSUCdro's palate.
I would stick with Taliskers 18. If you want, get him Taliskers 18 and a Glenfiddich 15.
