Missing New Belgium/Texas beer run?

I stepped outside just now and thought "this is perfect weather for a 1554." Then it hit me, I haven't seen NBB beer around since I moved here. I checked their website and discovered that NBB is not distributed in Louisiana.

With as many people on here that ask about Dogfish Head and other breweries that aren't in La, it seems we ought to coordinate a Houston/Beaumont beer run for hard to find beers. I'd order a few cases of DFH and NBB for sure (and pay a premium for gas/driver). Anyone ever do this? Or is this illegal (bootlegging)?

I'd pitch in for something like this. Always hearing about Specs in Houston, but I sure can't get there with all on my plate right now.

Just to tease a little, I contacted New Belgium earlier this year and the lady told me that distribution to LA was planned in the near future. I'm still holding my breath. I like the Ranger IPA.

A fellow BR beer nerd's brother just got a job as a New Belgium sales rep and we are apparently on their short list for market expansion.

As for the original post, I make runs to Houston a good bit. Technically I think it would be illegal for me to buy it and then sell it back to someone with even a gas mark-up but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen all the time.

That's awesome, I didn't think they'd expand anytime soon with their recent expansion to the east coast.

I'm prob in the minority, but I'd prefer New Belgium over DFH so I can have La Folie and Le Terrior in my fridge all the time. They do great stuff with their lips of faith series.

I wouldn't expect those "special" beer to make the distribution truck down here on a regular basis though. We're most likely looking at their mainstream brews getting to LA.

I didn't think they would make it to the east coast either early on, but from what I read, they'll be getting the regular lineup plus some lips of faith. Prob not the amt that their established markets get, but they are still getting some of it right out the gate.

I have friends that use me for this. I travel the country, via vehicle for work and they keep tabs of where I will be and have me load up. I normally head home with 8-10 cases of beer...

If LSU gets past Bama in 3 weeks, I will start the Atlanta beer list since we will be heading to ATL. I am fine with getting a TD F&D list together. Granted that is still pretty far off but still.

I thought more people would be excited about this. I know it's not LA but it makes it much closer to us at least, and I drive through AL at least twice a year. so.....bump

I saw it and thought it was fairly cool. I like going to Birmingham every once in a while.

Yeah I go pretty excited about it when I read it. I just hope south Alabama get it so I can pick some up while driving through Mobile.

Yep, server issues most likely.
