former owners of royal china in Metairie. Dim sum and small plates menu plus some really good Cantonese entrees, great bar and cocktails

we went late after jazz fest last night and gorged, it was so good. Highly recommend

Can't go back. Everything was way too sweet. Like had sugar tastes on things that shouldn't be sweet.

Is there still a 2h wait for a table?the food was good though, better than Royal China was under Shirley or currently is under the new owner.

I find Royal China better now than when Mrs Shirley owned it. I miss Shirley but, Royal China is hard to beat.

I need to make an effort to try the new owners menu.

Fried dumplings, reallt good app that they give out. The triple sauces come out with them, no complaints, really good.

Crispy pork belly; dry, taste like fried.

Egg rolls, egg rolls. Like that they weren't super bready and overfried.

Wontons. Had no real flavor. Just like overcooked and oversalted inners. The wonton was legit fried though.

Triple dipping sauces I mentioned earlier, really liked them.

Cabbage rolls. Have the pic, but dont remember them

Tsao or Seasame chicken, forget which. Chicken was good, that dark red sauce is the problem it is so sugary and shows up on a lot of dishes. Slather the dishes in them. Could have been a drizzle.

Whole fish. Believe it was a Chinese New Yeat Special, and it was good...but again, the red sauce.

Have been back after this meal, but had the same experience. The service is amazing, really really great. The food is just lackluster over fried and over sauced.

Is this still the vibe of at Miss Shirley's? Think I'll give it a go but was hoping for better.
