Have to go to Minneapolis next weekend. Need a rec on somewhere good to go eat for dinner with the wife. I'm open to anything. Suggestions?

Assuming you are staying in Minneapolis, not St. Paul - easy to confuse the two and, depending on time of day / traffic, can take a little time to get between the two.

There have always been a number of breweries in Northeast, and restaurants are starting to follow. I was in Minneapolis last month and was able to get a table at All Saints. Terrific menu.

North Loop is a beautiful neighborhood - where I lived after I graduated college. Really built up with a ton of bars and restaurants. Black Sheep is some of the best pizza I've had - upscale casual spot with a good craft beer list. If you're feeling Italian, Bar La Grassa is fantastic.

When I'm in MPLS, I don't spend much time in immediate downtown area, but Manny's is a well-regarded steakhouse. Really too bad Butcher & The Boar closed, but plans are to bring it back.

Honestly, can't remember the last time I went to Uptown. Friends that live in Minneapolis don't care for it anymore, but it used to be one of the faster-growing neighborhoods. There were a lot of looting and protests last summer. Go a little more south towards Lake Harriet and try Martina. Fantastic Argentinian restaurant + cocktails.

Travail may be the best meal I've had around MSP, but it's in Robbinsdale. Honestly, though, may be quicker to get there than Uptown at times.

Downtown has deteriorated during the pandemic, and many of the good places closed down.

North Loop is where a lot of the action is. Last week we stayed at the Marriot Element, which is right at Target field. It is new.

Smack Shack is good seafood. Spoon and Table is a little more high end. As the prior poster said, lot's of brew pubs. On of them has 45 or so self serve beers on tap.

If you're willing to make a small road trip, Wayzata is a neat (but very expensive) little town right on Lake Minnetonka. There's a really good steakhouse there called 6Smith.

This. Was one of my favorite restaurants in the country.

I second this recommendation. There's a place owned by the same guy called something like 112 Eatery that was really good when we went, but that was quite a few years ago.
