Master built 560 with Fireboard 2 mods

I bought a 560 a few months ago. It was working okay up to about a month ago. The sensors for the doors act up. It really sucked having the fan stop working in the middle of a brisket smoke.
I bought a fireboard 2, aftermarket fan and fan adapter for the FB2. I by passed the sensors on the MB. This thing cooks amazing now. It’s not a cheap mod but well worth it if you have one. I bought an extra fan to keep on hand just in case.
One of the coolest features is being able to control it away from the house. I went to the range today and kept an eye on my temps in between shooting rounds.
My only regret is I should have purchased the 1050.

aftermarket fan
Which fan? lol I made a thread on the outdoor board trying to get you to see it ha ha.
I'm going heatermeter on mine, already have it on hand as I built it for another smoker. Way more customizable. I can tie it onto a DNS and send people a website to check out how the cook is going.

I wanted the 800 for the griddle, we have another thread on the front page here discussing it currently. Just posted some pics of my newest mods on my 560.

Fan
The fan is a 3 pin connector. I bought the cable adapter from bbqhq and spliced the wires. You will need a voltage meter so you don’t reverse the positive and negative and burn the fan up.

Nice, thank you.
It gives you the pin out on the fan, can just cut that connector off and wire it into a JST connector like on the grill already and keep the switches in place. Heatermeter uses a different connector than the fireboard for connecting up the fan or relay.

That should work

What is your thoughts on the firebox metal burning away? Since mine is new I have been going back in forth but leaning on just letting it melt and replace the firebricks through warranty or $30 if necessary.

There is a guy that makes a stainless steel liner for the bottom part of the fire box. I am going to be purchasing that next.

I got some of the mods from Nathan on Facebook instead of LSS cause he has a better vent mod, I think his version just replaces the metal instead of going on top of it. I considered it, but didn’t get it. Masterbuilt is supposed to start selling a replacement kit with the new version they put in the V2 soon too.
