A lot of people are home distilling now and as long as your aren't selling it you are ok. You can buy all the equipment from homebrew shops..... LINK.

once you get your shine made, acquire a new charred oak barrel and age it. it’s pretty easy to do once you’ve mastered distillation

My old man used to make it. He would char white oak on the bbq pit and the put this in the mash. Dont remember exactly but he would strain it real well and then out through the still. He called it CAJUN CROWN!!!!

Thanks for the info on the still! I have found some good info online, but looking for some masters level kind of info that I can study. So if anyone has a particular resource let me know! Thanks!

There is a home distiller wiki page that is pretty extensive. I've read a lot of it as I was considering home distilling a couple of years ago since I homebrew. But I decided to stay away from distilling as homebrewing is enough work.
