Just as the title says. Home Depot has 20" clay pots for $44. Trying not to put that much money into this thing especially since I need 2 pots. Anyone know of a cheaper place? I've tried Walmart & Lowes.

Also, I know there are some on here that have made these. Tips? How did you fashion a handle?

Thanks!

Good luck with that. I tried it a few years ago and it didn't work as advertised. The hot plate kept overheating and cut off. I was thinking about trying it again with the charcoal heating elements that Home Depot sells. No handle is needed, you can lift the top pot off with your finger. I'm sure you could use a masonry bit and drill a couple holes very carefully to attach a handle.

Academy has a great electric smoker with stainless racks for about $150. I am replacing my Old Smokey (11 yrs old) with it later this summer. Old Smokeys go for about $65 but I want the horizontal rack type. 25 lbs of ribs on my Old Smokey right now!!!

Sure it would be much easier to buy one from HD or Lowes but the fun meter wants to put the Alton Brown thing together. Also the reason for wanting cheap pots. If it doesn't work then I'm out little to nothing and I'll use the pots as planters . If it does work then I can say I've got a cool smoker.

Now anyone know where to get some cheap pots?

That's what happened to mine. Wife took them for her Ficus tree and Rubber tree.
