I have to go to Houma tomorrow and was wondering if anyone from the food board could give me some recommendations on a good lunch spot.

Thanks,

What area of town are you going to be in for lunch?

It's a small town but depending on where you are, some places can take a while to get to, especially if you need to go from one side of town to the other.

I will be about a mile south of the Southland Mall on West Park Ave.

Song Phi Nong is good Thai food on Corporate and MLK area. There are a few good sushi restaurants on and around MLK. Zen, Osaka and some other one.

Peppers is a good pizza/calzone place.

If downtown, Cristiano and Cafe Milano are good. Also, there is a new restaurant on Verrett St. called Collie's that's ok sandwich/casual fare. I think Cafe Dominque is not open for lunch.

If you are around the Venture Boulevard area - the lunch basket is a very good fried food kind of place. It is next door to a shell gas station.

If you are on the East side, Melvin's on Saadi Street is good.

Hebert's Cafe is pretty good Cajun Food - at Barrow and HWY 311.

La Casa Del Sol is ok Mexican.

That's about all I got and I live here. Houma is incredibly underserved with decent restaurants.

Sounds like he is close enough to downtown

I might include Frenchie's on the list. Do you know if the new Big Mike's BBQ is open on the west side yet?

What's the name of that place that's close to the hospital downtown? They have pretty good food, I can't think of the name of it right now.

Yeah...it's the best BBQ in the state and it's not even close

Their sides aren't spectacular but they're good enough. The meats are great. Brisket and smoked pork are my favorites.

Mig Mike is not open on westside yet. If you want BBQ near where you are there is a place called Dickie's that's pretty new, but the food is really good. Not Big Mike good, but it is good.

Frenchie's - are you talking about French Loaf? If so - that's a good poboy place. I forgot about that. Also - West Main Pizza is my favorite pizza, ever. Ground Pati is also close to the mall with a decent burger.

Eh it's a mediocre chain place. There are better things to eat in Houma.

No, not french loaf. Frenchie's kitchen on Lafayette St. between tunnel and 311...

Think they're only open for lunch

Griffin's is also a pretty decent lunch spot while I'm thinking of it

And you could always go to Best Bakery on the other side of tunnel after and pick up some good French Bread or something else for later.
