Anybody been to this event at White Oak plantation in BR? It's pricey at $75, but it looks very interesting from the TV commercials.
Demonstrations of hot and cold smoking, hogshead cheese making, sausage making, cracklin cooking, etc. Music, and then you get to eat.

My dad helps out with the butchering and cooking every year and has a good time. If you've never been to a boucherie, I'm sure it would be worth it to go for the experience.

If you've ever been to a genuine boucherie, this one will probably disappoint. I have never been to Folse's, but it looks commercialized.

I'm sure it's a little commercialized and they have chefs from around the country cooking instead of a bunch of baws, but they've still got your basics of a boucherie (killing, skinning, butchering, and using every part of the pig to make an assortment of food). Seems like it'd be a good time

some tailgate friends went this past weekend. I had no idea what it was. apparently one of the guys who got to kill one of the hogs couldn't shoot worth a shite. grazed the hog's head twice before they had to hold the thing down in the corner for him to basically execute it.
had some cracklings they were like concrete.

Come to Raceland the first Saturday morning of October. They kill a pig and go through the whole thing and it's free. Part of our community fair. The only thing they dont make is Hogs Head Cheese.
