King Cake Recipes

I checked the TD cookbook and didn't see any. My wife is a better than average baker, and I was thinking of getting her to make one for us. She's excellent at making icing/frosting, so I think the actual cake would be easy to make and then she could ice it. She mostly does butter cream icing, but has made a few glazes for baked goods and different toppings for other desserts. Does anyone have a good recipe they can share?

Thanks. That looks simple enough.

About 2/3 of the way through with it.
Waiting on it to rise again then into the oven. My daughter wanted to help some but wasn't a fan of the cream cheese.

I really want to try that recipe now
Is there really no cinnamon in a traditional king cake? That's wild.

Out of the oven and cooling.
Iced
Sprinkled. Couldn't find the traditional colors so we made do with this 4 pack.
My almost 9 year old did the icing and sprinkles.

Looks delicious! How did it taste?
Fresher = better on a king cake, so hard to go wrong with home made. Just curious how that recipe holds up to the pro's

It was great. Felt like I was doing BBQ with how long you have to wait for dough to rise and then fill it and let it rise again. Then waiting on it to cool before icing it. Seems like it took all day even though the actual amount of time I was doing something was under an hour. It was good at room temp but I bet is even better after chilling overnight.
