Not knowing Kenner, I always assumed you were joking.

A lot of people underestimate the food scene in Kenner. I discovered some places when I worked in Kenner and lived in NOLA. I've had some weekend nights where I drove out of NOLA to Kenner for food because some of the Latin places are that good.

Kenner, mostly along Williams, has been new immigrant cuisine central for 20 years now. Some of my favorite places have come and gone, replaced by others. RIP Peacock, home of good South Indian food (dosas, idlis), now the site of a bank.....the late Taqueros on Roosevelt had truly excellent Mexican long before NOLA had any taco trucks, the old Yutaro noodle bar by Asian Gourmet Market was slinging ramen before Chang made it cool.

It's an always evolving area of affordable rent and upwardly mobile new immigrant entrepreneurs. I keep a sharp eye out when driving on Williams---you never know what sort of tasty eats will pop up from someone chasing the American dream.
Good shopping too: goat, lamb at Kased brothers halal market, aforementioned Asian gourmet, take your pick of various Latin markets....
