How much would you fork over for one? I wouldn't call it cheating at all. I'm assuming that you're already using a smoker that allows you to set the intake where you want, maintain a steady temperature, allows for very low fuel consumption, and will burn for more time than you'll ever need to cook anything. What the Flame Boss 300 does that you aren't already doing is connect to wifi, which allows you to monitor and adjust temps from anywhere using your phone, track cook graphs, and gives your smoker a cook and hold feature. I was just at their office 2 days ago, and they've got some things in the works at a lower price point for the everyday BBQ guy.

It's been holding up well for the past couple years. But having something i don't have to plug in first, would be a plus.
FWIW, when the power went out at my house Saturday, i used these
and they worked really well.
