Wife (no pics) got me one for Christmas along with the outdoor cover. Noticed it doesn’t take a whole lot of space but if i can leave outside under our covered patio it would be nice. Looking to purchase one of the hoods for it as well since this was just the griddle only.

Is this okay to keep outdoors for its lifespan?

Also regarding seasoning, what’s the best way to go about seasoning the griddle?

Let some large portions of vegetable oil sizzle in that thing for 30 minutes

I haven't seasoned a blackstone but I have seasoned other stuff; the longest lasting outdoor thing I ever had was originally seasoned with plain old Crisco. Not the "extra healthy" or some shite, but the original Crisco in the blue container.

Your next 20 cooks will smell like popcorn but it is worth it. The food won't taste like popcorn, but the cooking smell will.

Clark Grizwald designed it himself.

Did you get the hard metal cover or just the canvas cover? I have both, hard cover on the grill then the canvas over it. It’s stays nice and cured. Granted it stays under the patio, not in the elements.

One thing the instructions don’t mention when curing it, do not just throw away the paper towel without dunking it in water.
Someone I know and I did the exact same thing, just threw away the paper towel. The will ignite in your garbage can.

Got the canvas cover but plan on buying the hard cover to help with grilling style cooking in the future.

Yes ours will be outdoors under cover for the most part. It will never be in direct sunlight for the most part.

While I went with the Member's Mark griddle, but dimension wise the griddle surface is the same size. Mine is the 36". I have a hard cover, and the large canvas cover for the unit, and it is under a covered patio. I still had issues with the griddle surface getting nasty with the start of corrosion, and I have found a few rat turds on the surface. I searched for a solution and found this silicone griddle mat on Amazon. There are several brands to choose from. Once I started using this mat all my issues with the griddle surface were solved.

ETA: Another good "critter" defense is to wash the tin grease catch pan. I rinse mine in hot water then run it through the dishwasher.
