Italian Wine Trip

We returned from a trip to Italy that was primarily focused on wine so I thought I'd share some pics. Hope you all enjoy!
We started in Bellagio and did a tasting and dinner at a local place. Lombardy wines were the drink of the evening.
We only stayed in Bellagio two nights. It was our adjust to the time zone spot. Next we headed to Barolo Meriame which is Paolo Manzone's agritourismo. This part of the trip was all about the Nebbiolo featuring Barolo and Babaresco.
Nebbiolo
The hills around the town of Barolo.
Owner's stash at Verdunno. Yes, that's La Tache in the upper middle right.
After Piemonte we traveled south and stayed in Monti in Chianti. We started in Montalcino. Here's the aftermath of a wine tasting at La Fortezza in the castle at Montalcino. It's a fantastic enoteca to do your Brunello tastings. 13 people and 13 tastings so there are a few wine glasses left on the table.
Sangiovese
Next we headed to Bolgheri for a day trip to taste Super Tuscans. We visited Grattamacco and Chiappini for tasting with lunch in the town of Bolgheri. Caberbet Sauvignon and Sangiovese at Grattamacco.
There's just a little bit of difference in color between the two.
Next we hit my favorite little Chianti vineyard in Gaiole in Chianti. I Sodi. They make fantastic Chianti and a very good Super Tuscan as well. We got into some of the older stuff there.
Part of my I Soldi shipment arrived a few days ago. Of course, Ruffas had to do a customs inspection before it came into the house.
Some random pics. Thanks for looking. I'm plotting my next trip to Italy already and it will certainly involve more time spent in Bolgheri. It's a beautiful area with world class wines. First it looks like a trip to Argentina is in the works. Time to get more Malbec in my cellar.

Are those wines not ruined from cork taint?

I'm not sure what's up with them. My thought is that they've been opened and consumed and put back up for display. He had another room that was about 10' X 15' with all the bottles laid on their sides.

Thanks for sharing pictures. Glad you also had an excellent trip.
I'm currently trying to figure out how I can just work remotely and move to Piedmonte.

Ah they look unopened.
Love the pics. The wife and I are planning Italy for next year or the year after.

Broad term just meaning spoiled. Storing wine upright will dry out the cork and ruin the wine.
