I bought some rum with bananas in the bottle that tasted like bananas foster. A lady in St. Maarten makes it in her back yard. Looking to make more. Has anyone doctored up their liquor at home?

Just add bananas, brown sugar, and vanilla extract or bean?

Get some cheap light rum and do a sample. I’m sure it won’t take but a couple weeks. I’d avoid adding sugar but that’s just me.

Spruce Eats article

Some good info here. I just made margaritas from some blanco tequila that’s been sitting with jalapeños and cucumbers. Tasty. I certainly prefer using fresh things to buying a liquor that’s flavored with who knows what.

I like a banana rum myself and have thought about infusing some cheap rum with dehydrated banana chips. I haven't gotten around to it but it seems like it would work? Give it a go and report back

We’ve done pineapple infused vodka, and it seems like we tried another fruit, maybe peaches? It was good. The end.

How long do you leave it to get good jalapeno flavor? I did a bottle with 1 jalapeno and 1 habanero last week. I just sliced both in half and left the seeds in. The heat was perfect after about 4 hours, but not much flavor was imparted.

10 days this time, and the infused flavors really popped, even when mixed for margs. The jalapeño wasn’t super hot…I’d be careful with a habanero that long. And by careful, I mean frequent taste tests for science.

I don’t know what that means, but I would drink it. Or eat it.
