If you reuse cedar planks, do you have to soak the each time?

Cedar planks such as for wood grilling fish etc.

I do, just to increase the moisture content as much as possible. The more burnt your plank is, the less able it is to absorb water, or so it seems.

One of the reasons you soak it, is to help keep it from burning. Heat will draw out the moisture before it burns. So.... if you should soak it the 1st time, you should soak it each time.

burning is an old way they used to waterproof wood. But yes, soak......although if you keep your fire low then you could get away without a soak.
