Damn, I remember that thread, but I must have left before the entire Ruffino's management team came into the thread.

In Chicago last week, I had the following bumps in the road:

Topolobampo - somehow rock hen was scribbled down as "pork" instead of "rock", so they brought the wrong entree to the table.

RL Restaurant - waited 30 plus minutes even though I had a reservation.

Julius Meinl - completely forgot what I ordered for breakfast and they had to flat out ask me what it was.

I never complained - two of the 3 places stepped up and gave me a drink on the house, so I was pleased to see that they did the right thing.

Surprisingly, the most expensive of the bunch (Topo) didn't do anything.

I have never complained about food. My feelings are that if I don't like it, I shouldn't come back. The restaurant does not owe me free food or a gift certificate because I hated the dish.

If a server is downright rude then I would def. consider talking to someone but it would take a lot.

As a server myself I have a hard time complaining.

I have never complained in a restaurant and hardly every have bad meal at most places. But I'm not as picky as some and don't usually get upset over food.

The one complaint I've lodged in recent memory was where I received a grilled chicken sandwich, cut it in half to notice the chicken was only about half cooked. That's the only time I've ever sent back food too, but I was almost sick to my stomach at the thought of biting into nearly raw chicken. I definitely didn't want the sandwich back, so I told them to take it.

Well honestly, every complaint story in here has to do with terrible service.. not food. The only food ones are inedible experiences (raw food, etc.)
I am not picky about service, but when someone is name-calling (like in my story), I think it's necessary to complain.

If you go to a very expensive upscale restaurant, you deserve better service than you'd get at Chili's and if you're not getting that, you should mention it.

Wasn't referring to your story. I could understand getting upset with that one. And yes I have had bad service before, I just usually blame it on the person and not the restaurant. And the only way to help the restaurant is to let them know.
