We will be in the S. Braeswood and Kirby area tonight and looking for a casual place (not Mexican) to eat with the family. Any ideas would be welcome. Thank you.

I was always a big fan of Istanbul grill in Rice Village.

Canyon Creek for bar food in a family friendly spot that still has a solid drink selection.

Black Walnut Cafe isn't anything mind blowing, but it's solid with some health conscious options.

How old are your kids?

Little Matt's or Mia's further up on Kirby for burgers.

Hungry's for Mediterranean-ish.

Local Foods for sandwiches/salads...though the options for kids there is not all that great, at least not for my kids.

Goode Company Seafood, for well, you guess it, seafood.

Pit Room over in the Montrose for BBQ.

What are your kids into?

There are bunch of other places out there, but I went with the most kid friendly.

Hmmm...Tiger Noodle House, Hu's Cooking, Trendy Dumpling, Lua Viet Kitchen, Osaka over in the Montrose for sushi-don't order apps here they bring you a bunch of free shite anyway or at least they did before they moved across the street, Paulie's for Italian, Giacomo's, Relish over in River Oaks for new American/bistro type of shite.

Seems hardly a week goes by that someone isn't inquiring about food recs in Houston and you always go the extra mile to give informed answers. Kind of you and I'm sure they appreciate it.
