Went for the first time this weekend and want to go back. Food:

Flying Saucer - downtown.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Laid back and casual with Astros on the big screen. Tons of beer choices. Get the tater tot appetizer.

Aquarium - downtown
The food was fantastic. Had a Louisiana vibe to the whole menu and the atmosphere was great.

Backstreet Café - uptown
Some of the best brunch we’ve eaten. Atmosphere was 5-star also with superb service.

Hope to go back soon. We like the downtown scene. What are the board’s recs for food?

I cant endorse this. Its a Landry's joint, but im glad you had a good meal.

But sure as hell can endorse this. Great choice. Flying saucer is a great taproom as well.

What I would suggest entirely depends on what you're craving. Too many spots to name. Nancy's hustle, UBPreserve, Hugo's, Xochi, Killens STQ, El Tiempo, Ninfas, Theodore Rex, etc, etc, etc...

Backstreet Cafe is awesome.

“Flying Saucer” and “amazing food” probably shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence. Their pizza is pretty legit, and can’t say I’ve been impressed with anything else. They also don’t seem to carry and promote the Houston breweries as much as you’d think a large craft beer place shouldn’t.

Aquarium...great for the kids, but like Rainforest Cafe...food is marginal, especially for the price you’re going to pay.
