I got lucky that my wife is all about me brewing. She sometimes acts like she doesn't but she likes me having a hobby. As long as I don't complain too much about her shopping sprees she wont complain about the beer purchases or the club events.

I still wish that my stuff was better organized than it is. I seem to be reorganizing every time I brew and it never gets better.

I'm about to dump a few boxes of random bottles and just keep a few cases of flip-tops and bombers. That will help me get rid of the clutter and reorganize the brewing equipment.

Oh, and I'll have your Black Butte XXIII tonight. Bring $$$.

My wife went from, "No, we're not putting that in here," to "well that's not bad" once I started showing her what it "could" look like. She even starting pointing out ones she liked, and (with this last batch) was getting more excited than me when the airlock started bubbling. It's going to happen, just not overnight.

Some poeple do amazing things with their beer hobby. All I did was show her a few things like this:

For the last one, the guy had a step by step 40 page thread with plans he drew up in autocad and addressed any heating/cooling problems it could have from being covered in wood and tile.

Nice, I should probably find the drawings for the one I'll be putting together and do that.

Do any of you guys get together and brew? I've always wanted to try my hand at it, but I never have...

A good bit of the time I brew, someone is hanging out with me. If you are in NOLA look up the homebrew club there (crescent city brewmasters or something). If you are in BTR you are welcome to come brew with us one day.

I appreciate the offer, guys. I might take you up on it. Of course, I'd be obliged to bring along some Pliny, Blind Pig, Damnation, or whatever I have on hand...

i brewed a couple of years using a full boil extract method. recently purchased an all grain and kegging equipment.

problem i am having is i can't carbonate my beer enough with the kegs. i may do a couple of batches using bottles again, but would rather use the kegs.

when i pressure up the kegs, there is no leak, so the CO2 is not escaping. if i remember correctly, i would go up to almost 25lbs of pressure. any ideas why it isn't carbonating correctly?

How long are you letting the beer sit at that level of psi?

Brah, if y'all could teach my hopeless arse to brew good beer, it'd be well worth sharing some of my reserves.

When you tug on the relief valve, you are getting a release of CO2, correct? At 25 psi it should blast out of the relief valve if tugged only slightly. I'm not sure why you aren't getting carbed at over double the pressure. Could be your regulator is defective and is giving a false reading of higher psi - or it could be a number of other things. What temperature are you carbing at?

Another option is to naturally carb in the keg. Add in sugar like you do for bottles. Just use 1/3 the amount of sugar.

And have you thoroughly checked everything for leaks? Take some soapy water and spray bottle and spray everything down to see if you get bubbles anywhere.

i've checked very thoroughly on all three kegs, and had them sent to the CO2 shop to be checked, my neighbor worked there.

i think i may have been keeping the temps around 45. would this be my problem? too cold?
