I love our steaks there. Really enjoy the precision in takes to properly mark and cook to temp a steak on a chargriller vs a 1600 degree salamander. But it is just my preference. Occasionally, the chef will bring in some spinalis dorsi which is possibly my favorite cut of meat overall (it's the tender outer cap of the ribeye). The steak specials can get pretty creative, but the only cuts offered every night is a choice of 2 sizes of filet or ribeye. Outside the spinalis, we will occasionally have lamb t-bones or racks, veal chops and porterhouses, and tomahawk ribeyes.

I'm serious. My housekeeper went to 3 stations before she found gas and they were out of regular/premium. There are lines all over the place.

Martini, sounds good. I know very little about wine. I only like one or two. I prefer gin or bourbon.

I'm guessing you mean the gray label estate Howell mountain Cabernet. They make the cuvée, Howell mt, and estate Howell mt. I've got an 09 estate sitting in the house resting right now. Those wines really need some time. The cuvée is pretty approachable immediately though. Not sure what I'll be cracking for dinner tomorrow personally. Have to go open the restaurant tomorrow.

What did you end up going with? The time I went had the redfish served on a plank over risotto. Also the filet is great.

Overall that place is really good but super expensive. Thought it was weird that there 30 dollar entrees didn't come with a salad. Is that customary at nice places? Don't remember it being that way at Jubans, Roberto's, (old) Marcello's ?

I have a couple Cuvees as well as a few Plumpjacks. I enjoyed the one last night but it certainly wouldn't hurt to let it sit awhile. That's why I have others. I'm not sure what I'll pull out today but should be something nice later while the wind blows. I have a Swanson Rosata chilled I think I'll start with. I probably have a bit of time left in the year to drink this and it's always a good start. It's a really nice little starter.

Keep your eyes next time in the valley. Off of the silverado trail across the street from pine ridge, the Plumpjack group just bought an old property and opened odette estate. Had a nice tour there. They'll be producing a stags leap product inns couple years. I've got some excess in the cabinet I'll probably pop open tomorrow. Maybe some 2004 bergstrom estate

Had a great evening. Started off with the chargrill oysters which were top notch, moved onto the brie and crap soup again top notch. Then ordered their blue cheese wedge, blue cheese was not ever good, very runny and bland. I had the veal oscar and they knocked it out of the park. Wife had the speckled trout A'la Cocodrie style. The trout had a bit of a fishy taste to me, which I dont like at all but the wife enjoyed it. Sides were the smoked gouda mac n cheese and asparagus, nothing to write home about but were good. Two cocktails, a bottle of wine, and all that food walked out of there for $178 worth of damage. Want to sit at the bar soon and try some more of their apps for dinner.
