If ya aint a chef why in the hell would ya want the same gumbo all the time if you do you kinda missing the point. Home cooks make gumbo out of what they have. Thats part of the art of good jumbo. The only thing consistent in our gumbo is no matter what it is made from its always good.

the op sounds like a lazy arse expecting store bought gumbo to be good and consistent.

Maybe that's why there are so many crappy Gumbo's at The Roux Rally and other gumbo cookoffs I have been to.

use the same sausage, same roux (Kary's), same vegetables, same chicken, and same pot every time when cooking at my house,
Just curious how much jarred roux do you put to how much stock? Do you saute your trinity then pour in your stock then mix in the jarred roux?
Ordered some off Amazon and want to give it a shot.

There are directions on the jar that answer your question. Follow those, and if you want it thicker, add more roux.

You can if you want to.

Lol, you sound like an internet tough guy.
Considering the restaurants I'm referring to are considered nicer restaurants (Chimes, Snos Seafood, Parrains, etc.) I'm not sure where "store-bought" comes in.
When I go to a restaurant and pay $8+ for a cup of gumbo, I expect it to be pretty consistent.
I'm not even sure why I'm taking the time to respond to such an ignorant post.
