abattoir, miller union, horseradish grill, south city kitchen, babette's cafe or iberian pig to be "in the expensive range"?

good question. In some ways yes, in some no.

I think Horseradish Grill is OK, but not outstanding. I don't think it is that great for the price.

Tried to go to Iberian Pig on Monday and it was closed. The menu is very tempting.

I ended up at the Brick Store Pub. Had the fish and chips. Fish was very well done and the remoulade sauce was great. Chips were fine.

Maybe I am just like the BR people. Too critical of where I live.

San Antonio? It's got the obvious Mexican food, but also BBQ and don't forget the German food on the outskirts of town (out toward New Braufels etc).

Sounds like Stu has already discussed his distaste for them

I think it stems more from the fact of why they exist

they're not out there as some culinary nuance meant to awaken the public to a new way to enjoy the art of cooking

but rather a bunch of washed up chefs, dejected line cooks, and computer programmers who always dreamt of becoming chefs littering the landscape with these damn trailers. These trailers were bred from poor social skills, bad career advice and an inability to pay attention during accounting class

it's a fad, it'll pass
