Got a new flat top stove need advice

It says not to use cast iron pots. Does anyone do so anyway? Is it ok? Is there something you can get that sits over the surface that you could set the pot on to protect the stove top?

I use mine on it all the time. No issues so far. Just dont set it down too hard or slide it around alot.

Not sure what a griddle would do to solve the problem. But ok
