Its downvoted because its Paul Allen, but this is a good list.
I would add Phil Brady's and Port Royal. Maybe Duvics.

Bogie's
Ivar's
Dont go to any of these. These, especially the last 2, do not resemble a dive crowd-wise at all.

And why are people doing this?

I don't know but I fully support your post. It's a good list
There aren't too many well known dives in BR.
I'd venture to say you would experience plenty dives in BR playing pool leagues though.

Georges southside, rip louis Miller. I was a regular there for a few years in mid 2000’s. But it was a good place you could belly up to the bar, your drink was ready before you sat down.... and an eclectic cast of regulars that you became “friends” with. I can’t imagine it has changed

Dive bars in BR thing of the past
but the good ones were:
- The Bayou (arguably one of the best dive bars in america)
- The Thirsty Tiger (the spot to bring your side piece or hide from something)
- The OG happy note by BRCC
- Tabby's
- The Fishbowl on North Street
I'm long removed from BR, but i don't really consider skanky old old man bars (albeit fun places i'm sure) outside of those areas to be true dive bars.
