Gatlin’s Fins & Feathers Houston TX

Went to Gatlin’s for the first time this weekend. Houston Eater website had an article about the best Gumbo’s in the Houston area. We ordered the biscuits, gumbo and fried catfish and fried shrimp combo. The biscuits were baked perfectly and came with a honey butter, strawberry jelly and a bacon jam that were all delicious. The Everything Gumbo had chicken, shrimp, crab and sausage, it was a dark roux base. Definitely worth trying even though l’m not a big fan of all those different proteins in one gumbo. The catfish and shrimp were fried cornmeal batter. It had good flavor but the cornmeal battter had somewhat of hard bite. The catfish was a large fillet, I prefer thin cut fried catfish. I would definitely go back and would recommend this to friends.
