It's ground finer than it needs to be for a press. Coarse grind should not have the issues OP is having, and you aren't getting coarse grind out of a bag of pre-ground.

Someone could make a lot of money selling coarse ground coffee pre-bagged.
I still use regular ground coffee from a bag in my french press, on occasion, and have gotten used to the sediment. Not that big a deal IMO.

Possibly even community, not that any self respecting french presser would use such inferior coffee
Most grocery stores have a grinder in the coffee aisle that you can use when buying whole beans

Some brands do sell coarse ground coffee. The problem is that coffee stays fresher longer in bean form. Grinding it yourself, in quantities that you'll use immediately gives you a better finished product.
