How's the mix in the bag? The most difficult thing to find is consistent sized pieces with lump. Also how's its ash production?

I use the weber smokey mountain. I see the descriptors for this along with reviews is that it's best for komodo style cookers. Is it hot enough to maintain temp in WSM?

Fogo is the best lump. Much better thank KJ or BGE and miles ahead of any lump you can get at a big box store.

I will buy and try. I do see the "premium" has descriptor that it's better for WSM than that "super premium." It's lumps are smaller.

What makes the medium sized coal better for this than the large ones in the super premium?

I have tried everything they have for ~ 3 years. The Marabu may be the densest of all they sell, followed by the Quebracho (axe breaker), then tan bag super premium. Any of them will work in WSM, and I would mix some less dense lump in to help keep the fire even. Marabu and Q take longest to light, too. Marabu has a very nice scent as well, smaller sized lump, but still plenty long lasting due to super density.

I have done 16+ hour cooks and still have a half firebox full of lump if you don't open the top frequently. The tan bag is most similar to Kamado Joe red box restaurant grade in size and density if you have used it.

Thanks. Good info. I bought a bag of the super premium after talking with a rep there. He said the regular premium is better for direct grilling rather than slow and low smoking. I'll probably pick up a bag of that too once my current stash runs out.

Best thing is due to density there is little bag waste.
