Hey Heypaul, how long ago was that? I havent been to Ray's in probably 5 years. Looks like I need to if that was pretty recent.
I did go tear some Danken Trail up for lunch the other day. It was excellent

I grew up on crowder peas and butter beans for Sunday noon lunch…
After church I would shell them for my mom on the back steps…MAY she RIP … I sure do miss her

We used to sit outside and shell big grocery bags of purple hulls peas. I remember my fingers would be purple for quite some time. Good times.

We have some of all of them in the freezer
Pinto, butterbeans, texas cream, lady peas (My dad's favorite), purple hull, crowder, colored butter beans.
Love Texas cream, mixed with butter beans and served over cornbread, with a little onion chopped up in them.
A little embarrassed to say we don't shell them anymore. There is a produce stand (Freshway) in Jackson that shells them onsite and sells them fresh in big bags that we blanch and freeze.
We buy sweet corn a bushel or two at a time and put all of it up cut off the cob to be used for creamed corn.
We home can green beans that we buy from the same place.
