Field Factory Seconds Sale
I just spotted an ad for Field Company's Factory Seconds sale. I do not own one, but I've looked at their stuff before (likely why I saw the ad)

The prices make it a bit more tempting to try.

The 12" #10
Regular price $160
Sale price $110

I find it hard to justify spending that much more on cast iron vs.lodge, but perhaps I can be swayed...

I have several lodge cast iron skillets and all are fantastic. I'm curious as to the appeal for something like this over lodge.

My Lodge 13.25" that I just bought from their factory store in TN was $35.00.

Ill stick with Lodge.

I'm in the same boat. I have a Lodge that gets pretty routine use and a few other pieces I picked up from their factory store.

I think the Field stuff is lighter and smoother. That's really the appeal. Sort of Le Creuset's benefit over the cheaper enameled cast iron. At $110 I'm still not impulse buying.

Reading their marketing schpiel they based their designs off of the old Wagner pans that were much thinner. Still not sure it justifies the price even at 30% off.

I'm curious if this is a positive though? They look like great pans.

But the huge benefit of cast iron is their heat retention, if the pan is thinner that would certainly negatively affect this right?

We have some carbon steel sautee pans we love, and they are great for stuff you don't need the cast iron for. I'm assuming this Field Cast iron may be between Carbon steel and say a Lodge Cast Iron?
