Actually not that odd. Candi(y) sugars are traditionally used in Belgian ales, especially dubbels and tripels. If it's a lighter candy sugar it won't have a significant impact on flavor, but darker ones can give you flavors of dark fruits (think something like fig) or toffee.
And at the end of the day, it's fermentable. Yeast devours those sugars, same as the product of malted grains, and that gives us the wonderful ABV that we enjoy. That's undoubtedly part of what is pushing that to 10%.
I drank a few High Lifes this morning because fridge/hurricane beer, but all evening I've been experimenting with Calvados-based, fall-inspired cocktails. My experimentation has informed me that I should probably just keep drinking bourbon

The sugar is definitely what is getting the beer up to 10%. I was just under the impression that it was frowned upon?

It's perhaps a little unusual, but at the end of the day it's about flavor, right? What I know about Burial and their general quality, I'd say this was an intentional decision predicated upon hitting specific flavor profiles, not just a McConaughey "Gotta pump those numbers up" decision. Candy sugar is absolutely a thing. Not really MY thing, but a thing. Hope you enjoyed it. Life's too short to drink bad beer

I decided to have another. 2BD is a Ghost. We just cancelled a trip to AL for the LSU/Auburn game because the house we had rented doesn't have power. A hurricane screws up a trip to Northern AL. You can't make this shite up. F2020
