Yes, I know I lost 90% of the people who would ordinarily view this thread as soon as I typed out Taaka. Look I get it. Totally understandable.
Truth be told, a few Mardi Gras back, we started seeing King Cake flavored liquor being sold here and there, and the wife and I started sampling.
Pinnacle? Blech...Found one that Parkway Tavern and Bakery were touting, but I can't remember the name of it. Wasn't the answer, either.
Then, about two years ago my friend handed me a highball glass at our Mardi Gras Ball and just told me, "Drink it." I did, and I was amazed...
I did not believe him when he told me what it was. Mostly because he said that was the last of two bottles they'd bought. I ride in the parade so they wanted me to believe they had polished off two bottles of vodka-TAAKA vodka at that?-in a little over two hours or so? Yeah right!
A week after Mardi Gras, we're at Win-Dixie and I run across a huge setup of bottles on fire-sale for $6.97...I figured I could test the BS for myself and then make him tell me what they gave me at the Ball. Bought a bottle, brought it home, and that night, took a nip...and immediately went back and spent about $15 and bought two more bottles.
Trust me, if you aren't a snob, and you have an open mind...try it. It's ridiculously good...and hey. If it's not? You're out what...$8 with tax included? WTF cares? You're a baller. You can handle it. You also know who to blame.
Fire away.

Did you drink it neat, with ice or with a mixer?

Drank it chilled out of a highball glass at the ball. Downed in one swig because I was trying to catch up to my table which was partying as a group like their last names were all Kennedy.
Later on when we got it, I just put it on ice and added Sprite.
Fantastic...

IF it is soooo good, then why
If I liked something as much as you seem to, I'd buy more than 2 bottles...lol.

I have had the regular "cake" taaka and it was ok. I wondered how the king cake tasted but never pulled the trigger.
The Pinnacle pecan pie is the shiznit!!
