What was the famous restaurant around false river that was cash only? Oprah used to rave about it. Also, what city was it in? Thanks.

I miss that place under the original ownership. It seemed to go down fast after it was sold. I loved the atmosphere. Was a nice stop in that area and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Wasn't great, but very good. Had a lot of charm.

There was a short window there, though, when I'd say it was one of the 2-3 best restaurants within 30 miles or so of Baton Rouge, including everything in Baton Rouge. I think Chalet Brandt was still open then, so it keeps it out of a discussion for the #1.

I don't disagree with that quite some time ago. Place was packed much of the time in it's hay day.

I remember going the first time after it was sold and getting oysters rock there. The topping was some kind of really bad tasting spinach madeline mixture. I sent them back. The waitress told me their regular chef was away and the kitchen messed up. Very strange story. There was something else I had that same day which was bad. Can't recall what it was, though. Same story...chef was away.

They made some of the best crawfish bisque. I bought extra for the freezer when I went there. When they changed that, I nearly cried. At one time, they were serving some fine chargrilled oysters.
