Any recommendations for dinner in Hoover, AL after the game? We are staying at the Hampton Inn - Galleria.
Nothing upscale or super dressy. We don't mind driving a ways (20-30 miles) for a good dinner.

2 recs for Bottega. The menu looks good. If we get out of the game early enough to have time to get back to the hotel and clean up and make it there, we may try it.

Hmmm, might be overshooting the mark there. The list above me would be fine, and yes most anything in greater BHM is just a quick interstate ride from your location.
My tip: dine with the hipsters in Avondale, then enjoy a beer or 20 at either Avondale or Cahaba Brewery.
ETA: I think 5 Point Oyster Bar and Ovenbird both have late-night menus.

It looks like Bottega is likely out. Can you help me narrow it down some? He doesn't want Asian or Mexican. I don't care as long as it's open later and serves alcohol.

Ollie Irene has been getting lots of nods lately. Somewhat direct shot up US 31 (Montgomery Highway), but do.. not.. speed.. through Vestavia Hills.

We just looked at the menu for 5 Point. It looks really good. I'm pretty sure that's where we are going to go. He loves oysters and craft beer.

My wife and I go to Birmingham often and we've never had 5 Points Oyster Bar. Menu looks great. Need to check it out.

ETA: Sorry Greenwave, I did not realize that was your list. Bit distracted jumping up and down about LSU women's win, ready to watch LSU men, and watching NASCAR at the same time.

5 Points is good. They've got a nice oyster selection and good burgers. I would also add Sky Castle to the list. OvenBird is my personal favorite spot right now. Chris Hastings has got some really cool things going on there.

We went last night. The pork rind & queso dip app was very good. It was suggested by the server. We had the poutine - delicious and probably more than I could eat in one sitting alone. The fried cheese curds, pulled pork and the beef gravy worked well together, which I wasn't sure it would. I was very impressed. I was almost full after those, so I had a small Greek salad and he had the grilled fish reuben. He said the reuben good, except that the bread was a bit over toasted, which overpowered the taste of the fish some. We had a couple cocktails and a couple beers.
Overall, we were pleased. Our server was good. The only complaint that we had was that they were out of a lot of oyster choices. But we didn't get there until around 9pm, and they still had 2 to choose from. Ordered one of those and the server came back and said that they had just ran out of it, so there was only one type left. We ended up going with the other apps instead. He ordered the rabbit dumplings and the server came back and said they had just ran out of it.
Thanks for the recommendation and for suggesting valet. There was no parking anywhere near the restaurant. I didn't take any pics of the food. Sorry.

I'm so glad you reported back. I was worried after the LSU loss if you still would have a good dining experience.
