The Place was owned by Jake Staples after he closed Bob and Jakes on Government which is now Boudreauxs. He invented the Sensation Salad there and brought it to the Place.

Isn't the Sensation Dressing recipe in the first River Road? I've either seen it in one of those or Talk About Good. The first RR was published in 1950.

I'm the one who knows REAL gumbo, Otis. That okra business hails from Africa. I prefer the French/Cajun version which is the real deal. I don't need a thickener like okra. I can make a real roux.

i just don't like adding slime to my food, and especially on purpose..
OG, you are the true personification of an omnivore...a feral hog doesn't have a palate as broad as you do. I can't belive you'd cull gumbo over a little okra. You're just trying to schmooze GG.

Ground Pati, drank a lot of beer there when I was at Catholic in the 70s. Fond memories of that place.

Not so fast. No ruffling going on here. Sorry about your day and the false sense of completeness. Better work fast, now.

Oh, and someone brought me gumbo with okra in it last week. Good thing I didn't have to eat it in front of them. Would have been good without the okra. I trashed it. Nasty texture. Nasty stuff.

It's working in spite of some of his other heathen qualities. The man knows good gumbo.
