Country Beignets

This morning while having a cup of coffee I suddenly had an ahnvie for some beignets again. I decided to do some country style beignets this time. I had a couple of cans of small biscuits in the fridge sot it was happening. Not like it's a lot of work but I did these in different shapes. Some were donut shaped, some doughnut holes and some just flattened a little, stretched and a crisscross cut in the middle. In no time they were done!
When I was a kid we would put 'em in a paper bag with powdered sugar and shake it up to get 'em good and sugary.
Only thing bad about them is you can almost eat a whole can in one sitting with a good cup of coffee.

When we were kids my mom would sometimes do the same thing with canned biscuits and our other early morning treat was French Toast with left over French Bread.
Those biscuit beignets are quick and easy.
